Volleyball Picked Fourth in RMAC West Poll
8/18/2010 11:42:33 AM
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Western State volleyball earned a fourth-place preseason pick in the West Division, and a ninth-place pick overall, in the 2010 RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll released this morning by the conference office. The Mountaineers finished 10th overall in the standings a season ago.
Head Coach Katie Moskowitz returns five starters plus the libero from last year's squad that won four of its final seven matches. The Mountaineers also return seven seniors for the 2010 season.
The RMAC Tournament takes the divisional champions, plus the next six teams based on the conference win-loss record, to fill out the eight-team event. The host will be the top overall team with three weeks remaining in the conference season to allow for adequate planning for the host team.
Western State wraps up the preseason practices Aug. 28 with the Crimson and Slate match at 7 p.m. in Paul Wright Gym. The regular season begins Sept. 3 at the Lady Buff Classic hosted by West Texas A&M.
