LILBURN, Ga. – Western State College Head Women’s Basketball Coach Latricia Trammell will begin a one-year term this season on the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association National Convention Advisory Group. She will be involved in monthly meetings to brainstorm and develop ideas and information to enhance the national convention programming.
“I am honored to be a part of a committee that is helping our profession grow and develop,” Trammell said. “That is what it’s all about – getting involved and having a voice in a profession that I am deeply passionate about.”
Trammell is also in the second year of a five-year term on the USA Today/ESPN NCAA Division II Top 25 Coaches’ Poll. She’s one of 29 head coaches from across the nation that rank the division’s best women’s basketball teams each week during the season.
Trammell is beginning her fourth season as the Mountaineers’ head coach and led Western State to its second straight RMAC Shootout appearance last season. She’s coached one RMAC West Player of the Year, two RMAC West First Team selections, 11 RMAC West Players of the Week and six RMAC All-Academic honorees.
Trammell is the second-fastest coach in program history to reach 30 career victories. She’s the first to take the Mountaineers to back-to-back conference tournament appearances since the major expansion of the conference before the 1996 season. She is a frequent clinician and featured speaker at a number of clinics and banquets throughout the region and country.
