GUNNISON, Colo. – Five hundred wrestlers and coaches from 30 teams from across the region finished competition and instruction yesterday at the Slate Team Camp of the 48th Rocky Mountain Wrestling Camps held on the Western State campus. The Slate Camp was the largest of the four wrestling camps and one of the largest in camp history.

Norton (Kan.) High School won the team championship while Olathe High School held off a late charge by Dobson (Ariz.) High School to finish as runner-up. Olathe also featured the camp’s Outstanding Wrestler in Kyle Piatt.

The Rocky Mountain Wrestling Camps are the longest-running wrestling camps in the United States. Nearly 1,200 wrestlers from several states in the Rocky Mountain and plains region attended the four camps held from June 6-20.
