GUNNISON, Colo. – Western State College Head Men’s Basketball Coach Mike Moskowitz is pleased to announce the addition of four student-athletes to the 2010 Mountaineer signing class. They all signed National Letters of Intent or institutional letters of intent and join early signee Jake Howe.
“These four freshmen are tremendous student-athletes,” Moskowitz said. “They all excel in the classroom and have the ability to take Western State College to a whole new level. This is an exciting time for Western State and our men’s basketball program.”
Jon Cooke is a 6-foot, 9-inch power forward and center who helped the Victoria State Under-20 Team to the Australian National Championship. “Jon is a very intelligent young man who is very athletic for his size,” Moskowitz said. “He has played at a high level in Australia and should help us with our needs at the post position.”
Jordan Adams averaged 14 points, four rebounds and two assists as a shooting guard last season at Chapparel High School in Parker, Colo. He earned first team all-conference and honorable mention all-state accolades.
“We are excited about Jordan,” Moskowitz said. “He is extremely athletic and has a great passion for the game. This summer will be huge for him as far as how much he contributes next year on the floor.”
Casey Jackson will come in as a shooting guard and shooting forward from South Oldham High School in Crestwood, Ky. He averaged 17 points, five rebounds and four rebounds for the Dragons last season.
“Casey will be a staple in our program for the next four years,” Moskowitz said. “He comes from a great family and high school program in Kentucky. I am really excited about Casey’s future.”
Trever Ford will come from two hours down U.S. Highway 50 as a 6-10 center from Canon City. He averaged 18 points and nine rebounds and earned a spot on the conference first team and all-state honorable mention team.
“Here is a young man with all the tools to be a great Division II player,” Moskowitz said. “I am looking forward to coaching Trever throughout his college career.”
The five join Howe, a 6-10 center who signed during the early signing period last year.
