GUNNISON, Colo. – Coming off the first conference win of the season, Western State men’s basketball (4-14, 1-10 RMAC) will look to start the climb up the RMAC West Division standings tonight when the Mountaineers host Adams State (4-15, 1-10 RMAC) at 8 p.m. in Paul Wright Gym. The two teams are tied for sixth in the division.
Western State swept the season series last year by an average of nine points, but trails the overall series 94-77. The Mountaineers have played against the Grizzlies 171 times in the most-played series in program history.
Dan Hobin continues to lead the RMAC in free-throw percentage at 90.2 percent. He’s on pace to break the program record of 88.9, set by Kenny Clay in 1996-97. Hobin has made 27 of his last 28 attempts and leads the Mountaineers in rebounding, field-goal percentage and blocked shots.
Dan Biber is averaging 17 points over the last five games, helped by a career-high 32-point performance against Western New Mexico last Saturday. He’s scored in double-digits in seven of the last eight games and reached 600 collegiate points against the Mustangs. Biber is ranked among the RMAC leaders in seven different categories.
The Mountaineers have the chance to even their home record at 3-3 with a win tonight. Head Coach Mike Moskowitz is 15-10 at Paul Wright Gym in his three seasons.
