2010 Schedule
GUNNISON, Colo. – Head Coach Katie Moskowitz will be at home for seven of the final nine matches of the RMAC season in the 2010 Western State volleyball schedule released today. The Mountaineers finished fifth in the West Division in 2009 after closing the season with a 12-11 set record over the final seven matches.
The Mountaineers open the season Sept. 3 at the West Texas A&M Tournament in Canyon, Texas, against four schools out of the Lone Star Conference. Western State takes on East Central at 10 a.m. MDT, followed by Lone Star Tournament qualifier Central Oklahoma at 2:30 p.m. The Mountaineers finish the nonconference schedule with Southeastern Oklahoma and Eastern New Mexico Sept. 4.
Western State starts the RMAC season with three road matches in the Denver area, beginning with RMAC Tournament qualifier Regis Sept. 16. Matches with Colorado Christian Sept. 17 and Colorado School of Mines Sept. 18 finish a seven-match road stretch for the Mountaineers.
Fort Lewis opens the 2010 home season for the Mountaineers Sept. 24, a team Western State swept last season. Mesa State, the 2009 West Division champion, follows Sept. 25 after needing five sets against the Mountaineers in Paul Wright Gym last November.
Western State faces Adams State Oct. 1 in Alamosa, Colo., during a four-match road stretch. Defending RMAC regular-season champion, Nebraska-Kearney, begins a three-match homestand for Western State Oct. 14.
The Mountaineers end the regular season with four home matches from Oct. 26-Nov. 6, featuring the Grizzlies in an Oct. 30 meeting in Paul Wright Gym. The two New Mexico schools visit Nov. 5-6 before the RMAC tournament Nov. 11-13.
