GUNNISON, Colo. – Western State College Head Volleyball Coach Katie Moskowitz has announced the signing of Montrose prep product Kelsie Dardis to a National Letter of Intent. Dardis is the second member of the Mountaineers’ 2010 signing class during the early signing period.
“Kelsie is a young athletic player who I feel will thrive training with a couple of our senior middles next year,” Moskowitz said. “I love her competitive and hard-working attitude and we look forward to welcoming her to the Mountaineer family.”
Dardis earned All-Southwestern League Second Team honors and was the first alternate to the first team. She will participate in the all-state game this weekend.
Dardis led Montrose to a district champion, regional runner-up performance and a Class 4A state tournament appearance as a junior. She earned honorable mention all-state and first-team All-Southwestern League honors. She lead the team with 597 kills, 193 points and a .283 hitting percentage in 2008.
A member of the Black Canyon Volleyball Club, she was part of a team that won the Western Slope Championships in 2008.
Dardis will be the second Montrose student-athlete on the Mountaineer volleyball roster. She joins Brianna Verble, who redshirted the 2009 season.
