GUNNISON, Colo. – Western State Head Volleyball Coach Katie Moskowitz has announced the signing of Windsor (Colo.) High School standout Sara Larson to a National Letter of Intent for the early signing period. Larson led the Wizards to a Class 4A district final appearance this season and rejoins Rachel Weakland, who graduated from Windsor in 2009.
“Sara is exactly the student-athlete that we feel can help get this Western State College team back to the playoffs," Moskowitz said. "We are looking for her to be able to make an impact on this team right away, we are excited to welcome her into the Mountaineer volleyball family.”
Larson posted 103 kills, 16 aces and 24 blocks as a middle blocker and outside hitter for the Wizards. She hit a season-high 18 kills against Sterling Sept. 19 and surpassed 10 kills six times during the season. She hit greater than .300 in three matches and greater than .280 five times.
Larson was a member of the Norco 17 Black club team that qualified for the 2009 Junior Olympics.
A three-sport athlete in volleyball, basketball and track, Larson currently leads the Windsor senior class with a 4.0 grade-point average. She is active in the National Honor Society, Student Council, Future Business Leaders of America and the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America.
