GUNNISON, Colo. – Volleyball student-athletes from Colorado and across the region are invited to participate in the Western State College individual skills and team camps during the month of July. Athletes can attend basic skills camps, elite skills camps and team camps, with top-level instruction from the Mountaineer coaches and student-athletes.
Teams and individuals can save $20 per athlete by signing up before Jan. 1.
Athletes can take part in the basic skills camp July 9-10 for $120. The elite skills camp follows July 11-13 at a cost of $185. All costs include meals and board on the Western State campus, and campers can save $20 by bringing a sibling to camp.
The Western State team camp will take place July 25-28 and is open to all varsity and junior varsity teams, with the possibility of freshman or “C” teams depending on interest. The team camp also includes an optional half-day of rafting in the Upper Taylor Canyon. Cost is $200 per athlete, with an additional $40 for the rafting, and all head coaches for each tean stay free.
Team campers receive tailored instruction and learn new practice techniques and drills. The first couple days teams can work through situational sets based on score and serving team to experience play under pressure as well as pool play. The final day of the team camp will be tournament play between teams of similar classification.
