GUNNISON, Colo. – WeatherPORT, the largest corporate partner for the Division II Athletic Directors Association and Dr. Greg Waggoner, Western State athletic director and first vice-president for the D2ADA, were on hand Thursday night in Paul Wright Gym for the presentation of the 2008-09 D2ADA Academic Achievement Awards, sponsored by WeatherPORT. The presentation took place at intermission of Western State’s volleyball match against Regis.

Fourteen of the 28 student-athletes who earned the awards in 2008-09 were on hand to accept the certificates from WeatherPORT marketing vice president Gene Boling and marketing coordinator Brenda Brown. It’s the second year WeatherPORT has sponsored the awards since joining with the D2ADA as a corporate partner in 2008.

Student-athletes had to earn a 3.5 grade point average, have attended at least four semesters of college and be an active member of an intercollegiate team during the academic year.

WeatherPORT also doubles as a corporate partner for the Western State athletic department. The company was founded in Gunnison before moving to expanded operations base in Delta, Colo. A number of the structures used for special events by the athletic department, and other departments at Western State, are WeatherPORT structures.
