Dempsey Near 1,000 Digs as Season Begins

9.2.2010 | Volleyball

After closing out last season with wins in three of the last five matches, Western State volleyball starts with four matches against Lone Star Conference teams at the BritKare Lady Buff Classic hosted by West Texas A&M. The Mountaineers will take nine seniors to Canyon, Texas, and five members of the starting six from last season.

WSC Invites Denver Alumni for Sept. 17 Social

Western State College alumni and friends in the Denver area are invited to join the Mountaineer volleyball coaches Friday, Sept. 17 at 9 p.m. for a post-game social at P.F. Changes in Lakewood, Colo. The social falls during a three-match swing through the metro area for the Mountaineers.

Basketball Victorious In Capture the Flag

A coordinated and repeated attack allowed the Western State men’s basketball to return with the flag and claim in the win in the Second Annual Men’s Basketball/Women's Volleyball Capture the Flag competition last night. Both teams are coached by the Moskowitz’s, Mike and Katie, which provided the motive for the annual game.

Volleyball Picked Fourth in RMAC West Poll

Western State volleyball earned a fourth-place preseason pick in the West Division, and a ninth-place pick overall, in the 2010 RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll released this morning by the conference office. The Mountaineers finished 10th overall in the standings a season ago.

Volleyball Opens 2010 Preseason Camp

Western State volleyball welcomed back all of their veterans from last season as well as a new group of freshman as the Mountaineers opened the 2010 preseason camp with a pair of practices today in Paul Wright Gym. Five starters and seven seniors are back for the 2010 season with second year Head Coach Katie Moskowitz.

Volleyball To Start Preseason Camp Monday

Western State College volleyball will return five starters from last season and a large senior group when the Mountaineers report for the 2010 preseason camp this weekend. The first set of two-a-day practices will take place Monday morning in Paul Wright Gym. Head Coach Katie Moskowitz begins her second season with the Mountaineers.

Volleyball Camps Start with Basic Skills Group

More than 50 volleyball athletes from sixth graders through high school sophomores spent two days on the Western State campus last weekend learning and developing skills during the 2010 Western State volleyball basic skills camp. It’s the first round of skills camps for the Mountaineer volleyball team before the team camps at the end of the month.

Volleyball Adds Dixie State to 2010 Schedule

Western State College volleyball announced the completion the non-conference portion of its schedule with a pair of home matches against Dixie State Sept. 10-11 in Paul Wright Gym. The Mountaineers also announced a time change for the Mesa State home match Sept. 25.

Cool Signs with VB; Accepts Track Scholarship

Kallee Cool, a four-time conference champion and a first-team all-league outside hitter last fall, will join the Western State College volleyball team after signing a National Letter of Intent last weekend. Cool also accepted a scholarship for the Mountaineer track and field team.
