The two-time defending RMAC champion Western State wrestling team will kick off the season with the annual Preseason Victory Party and Reverse Raffle Oct. 9 at the Fred Field Western Heritage Center. The evening will also be a feature event of the “Wags Era Reunion” being held during the weekend.

Two-time defending RMAC champion Western State College will welcome four teams that placed in the top 20 of last season’s national championships to Paul Wright Gym as one of nine home duals on the 2010-11 wrestling schedule. The Mountaineers carry a 12-dual home win streak dating back to 2008 into the season.

The 70th episode of the RMAC Showcase, which will feature last month's conference Hall of Fame ceremony, will debut tomorrow night at 7 p.m. on the Altitude Sports & Entertainment Network. The ceremony featured two Western State individuals and the 1954 Mountaineer football team.

Both Shane Carwin (WSC '99) and Brock Lesnar weighed in at the maximum 265 pounds during the weigh-ins for UFC 116 earlier tonight on Spike TV. The two heavyweights will fight in the UFC unification bout tomorrow night from the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The fight will come at the end of the pay-per-view broadcast, which begins at 8 p.m. MDT.
